Support Staff Roles and Responsibilities
The support staff at St. Sebastian’s provide invaluable contributions to the teaching and learning which occurs. We are very privileged to have excellent staff that make a tremendous difference to the pupils in their care.
All of our Support staff are employed across the Federation of St. Sebastian’s and St Cuthbert’s. They work in many important and often multiple roles in a school. In particular:-
Jackie Hilton – Learning Support Manager (member of the Senior Leadership of the School) is responsible for Child Protection, Safeguarding, Extended Schools (Breakfast Clubs, After School Clubs and Holiday Splash). She also has a supportive role in the Foundation Units. Jackie also runs our SEAL (Social Emotional Aspects to Learning) and Philosophy for Children. Jackie manages our teams of Midday Supervisory Assistants and Teaching Assistants.
Lorraine Fay – School Business Manager (member of the Senior Leadership of the school) is responsible for writing and monitoring the budgets of St. Sebastian’s, St. Cuthbert’s, Field of Dreams and Extended Schools. She ensures compliance with all aspects of financial management across the federation. She also supports and contributes to safeguarding. She provides support to the Governing body attending the Finance Committee and Full Governing Body meetings. She is responsible for the terms and conditions of our staff (including all aspects of personnel) and manages the premises and administration staff across the federation.
Dave Grimes – Site Manager – Dave is responsible for all the buildings across the federation including any health and safety concerns and general upkeep. He supports the management of the cleaning staff and provides regular reports to the Governing body. He ensures the federation is compliant with all aspects of health and safety regulations.
Nicola Von Bargen (Administration Officer), Marie-Ann Donelon (Administration Assistant) are responsible for the administration of all pupil records, cash handling and finance. Nicola is responsible for pupil admissions and transition to secondary school. The Administration team ensures the smooth running of the school with their flexibility and willingness to help out in all areas.
Supervisory Assistants – Mary Williams, Shirley Rowan, Michelle Morrow, Kelly McKeown, Louise Henwood, Mary Donelon, Deana Knowles and Kelsea Conway. Lunch time staff help and support our children during this break. They provide activities on the yard and ensure the health and welfare of the children.
Teaching Assistants – Stephanie Bullen, Diane Fleming, Debra Furlong, Margaret Haney, Julie Maguire, Kathy Rimmer, Tina Reynolds, Sue O'Hanlon, David Seddon, Tracy O'Malley, Karen Williams, Vicky Simpson and Veronica Cook (reading role) – provide support to the pupils in each class in terms of small group interventions. They also provide support to the teachers. We are extremely fortunate to have a Teaching Assistant in each class. They have such dedication to the children and make a huge difference to the teaching and learning which occurs.
Premises Staff – Louise Henwood,, Mary Williams, Joan Thomas, Anna Kaczyca and Mary Kennedy ensure our school is clean and tidy at all times. They take pride in their work and we are delighted with how the school looks. Many visitors comment on how lovely the school looks.
Spanish – We are also very fortunate to have Spanish delivered by Susana Castro. This is taught across all Key Stages including Foundation which is invaluable to our pupils.
